Why should I hire a licensed plumbing contractor?
Georgia law requires that anyone contracting for plumbing
work must hold a Master Plumber license. Verify
a license with Secretary of State Plumbing License Board.
Consumers should be aware that a lot of work is being performed
by unlicensed contractors.
Who
police plumbing contractors in Georgia?
The Georgia Construction Industry Licensing Board consists
of five divisions: the Division of Conditioned Air Contractors,
Division of Electrical Contractors, Division of Low Voltage
Contractors, Division of Master and Journeyman Plumbers, and
Division of Utility Contractors. Each Division has five members
who are contractors, journeymen, engineers, and inspectors.
In addition, the Board has two consumer members who are not
connected with the construction industry. The Board members
are appointed by the Governor to serve a term of four years.
The Board protects the public against
faulty construction installations through the licensing of
contractors. The Board establishes and administers standards
for the licensing of the contractors in the above professions.
These standards maintain the qualifications for entry into
the professions, including experience, examination, and training,
and the qualifications for continued practice, including work
standards and education. Each division evaluates applicants
for licensure, conducts examinations, issues and renews licenses,
evaluates the practice of licensees, takes disciplinary action
against licensees, and enforces the requirements for licensure.
Recent
action by Plumbing division.Board
meetings are open to the public and are generally held at
the Office of Secretary of State, Professional Licensing Boards
Division office located at 237 Coliseum Drive, Macon, Georgia.
Meeting dates, time and location are posted on this website.
Persons wishing to submit complaints or other matters for
Board consideration should submit the matter in writing to
the office.
The licensing board is also responsible for investigating
code violations, unlicensed or improper work.
The fact that plumbing licenses are issued to individuals,
not companies, makes it harder for consumers to find out whether
or not the company they are dealing with is properly licensed.

Why
should I hire a member of PMA?
Members of PMA must be licensed and agree to abide by a
code of ethics covering fair business practices when they
join PMA. If a consumer has a complaint about a member, they
may call PMA at 678-947-3473. PMA will discuss the complaint
with our member and ask them to review the matter with the
consumer and resolve it if possible. If the contractor is
not a PMA member, the Association has no method of being involved
in the complaint. If the consumer cannot resolve the problem
with the contractor, a complaint may be filed with the licensing
board. To file a complaint click
